Research & Teaching

Research & teaching

Ideas become useful when people can work with them.

My research and classroom work share a commitment to evidence, clear explanation, and arguments that withstand real scrutiny.

Research

Public questions, disciplined methods.

My doctoral research examined how globalization reshapes religious and public identity, bringing intellectual history into conversation with demographic evidence. It was informed by work at the European University Institute, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, and the University of Vienna.

  • Secularization and religious change
  • Globalization, political identity, and public life
  • Demography, migration, and social theory
  • Ethics and the history of ideas

Teaching

Humanities learning built for attention and rigor.

I have taught philosophy, ethics, humanities, literature, religion, and political thought at community-college, university, and secondary-school levels.

  • Course and curriculum design
  • Close reading and argument analysis
  • Discussion, assessment, and learner feedback
  • Canvas and Blackbaud learning environments

I value the intellectual move that matters most in research and teaching: make the strongest fair version of a claim, test it, and explain the result plainly.
